<br />
It has been forever since I have posted anything. February! I can't believe so much time has gone by without my posting something. <br />
<br />
This has been a difficult year. And, tho I always found writing in my blog therapeutic, I guess I have to admit that I just couldn't share the feelings I was having. This post will explain, somewhat, and later, in a month or two, I hope I can share happier times. <br />
<br />
You see, I have lost my husband of 52 years. A man who helped define my entire life. He was my hubby, my friend, my forever love. He cared about what I was doing, what I wanted to do, and wanted to be there next to me to do things with me. He was a simple man; never needed anything fancy, never cared about material things, except a good home, and a decent vehicle. We travelled together, dreamed together, and made some of those dreams come true together. He has had many trials to endure, and those trials took a toll on him. His health had been the worst in the last year, culminating in his passing on September 1, 2015.<br />
<br />
We loved, we fought, we laughed, we cried, we won, we lost and now I have to find a way to live my life without him. I will, because he taught me to be strong, and I will do that, for him. I will be back to share the happenings in my world. <br />
<br />
RIP, my wonderful man, who gave me more than he ever knew. xxoo<br />

<br />
I am back after a rather long period of time, and I can't really tell you why! I guess I just needed a break, and to be honest, the holidays were not that great for me this year. Oh, I sent out gifts for the grandkids and family back East, but i didn't do much more. I don't know why, I just couldn't get into it this year, and that is VERY unusual for me. I didn't knit or crochet much, either, which is again unusual. But I have gotten back to that somewhat. <br />
<br />
Right now, the oranges on our trees are plenty, so I have to make orange juice and get it into the freezer. I add grapefruit juice to it also, as I have lots of those, also.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9BVwzAfDtbsAlOLye5VaPBmvpALAgwhXc5-HNKc1qmyOidpLTtv7BGCXNYZJm_ZbeCLHucktz7F4hE1Gdkp3PIYM0Uh6OvvSaOhTXLH9yHz8o-vTN3LQkMpeiS3JwtyiDrW6eFdOT2Y_5/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9BVwzAfDtbsAlOLye5VaPBmvpALAgwhXc5-HNKc1qmyOidpLTtv7BGCXNYZJm_ZbeCLHucktz7F4hE1Gdkp3PIYM0Uh6OvvSaOhTXLH9yHz8o-vTN3LQkMpeiS3JwtyiDrW6eFdOT2Y_5/s1600/image.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div>
Also, making an apple pie (I have a craving), and chicken noodle soup! What can I say, I was in the mood for cooking. It is a mood for me that I am in a lot. Cooking mood. And I like it. I'm basically a homebody. Anyway, it'll be good to get a stock of orange juice built up, too. If I can get enough, it'll last a few months. And it is so nice to have our own juice from our own oranges. What a difference in taste! </div>

<br />
Wouldn't you think that, as I am retired, a Sunday wouldn't be much different than any other day of the week. But it is, for me. Maybe because I have made it that way, in the Fall anyway. For one thing, football is back, and Sundays are for football. We rarely go anywhere on a Sunday in the Fall. Because, besides football, I do a lot of cooking on Sundays, I like to curl up and crochet, and we like to eat whatever it is I may have cooked. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl0md-fU3kfgkTDMRhs92zubD6TsPniaU2dAlraFjC0b5Jw1i_pYlteigCnJvw787cL0cpe-mW02ddLOuUU6lurXTCBc2-D2LtR_FVT43CQYc163CJI0wUoDeZIoBmUwd9zjhhQMyP9Fp6/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl0md-fU3kfgkTDMRhs92zubD6TsPniaU2dAlraFjC0b5Jw1i_pYlteigCnJvw787cL0cpe-mW02ddLOuUU6lurXTCBc2-D2LtR_FVT43CQYc163CJI0wUoDeZIoBmUwd9zjhhQMyP9Fp6/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Soooo, I get up in the morning, make a nice pot of tea, fix one of my favorite breakfasts, and curl up on my little red love seat. And so, my Sunday starts. Hubby sleeps late, so I spend the morning cooking, or relaxing, or crocheting while watching NFL Countdown on ESPN. I enjoy learning about the players and plays of football. I' m no expert, tho. Don't want to be. I just want to enjoy it. <br />
<br />
So, what shall I cook today? We have some leftovers to finish up. You know how that is. I made potato and leek soup a few days ago, and then spaghetti, so we must eat that up. But I think I will make some chocolate chip cookies, and apple turnovers. So just desserts today, I guess. Hubby is craving his goodies. He loves goodies.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div>
Started a new cowl for granddaughter E., and STILL haven't finished the purple afghan for granddaughter A. I think some of you can relate to that. And, I have noticed a few other projects I still haven't finished. I need to get going. Just haven't had the ambition to get things finished. But I am inspired by other bloggers who go thru the same thing, but eventually get things done. </div>

Lastly, I am missing New England, and spend a bit of time wishing I was there to drive thru the Berkshires, or Vermont, and see the colors, which are pretty much finished by now, but nonetheless, my memories of Fall in New England are never far from my mind. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I can't sleep tonite, and I am lying here with so much going thru my head. I don't know what it is, but Autumn always makes me melancholy, remembering faces, moments, Autumn colors in Vermont, old ways, country roads, etc. I made applesauce tonite, and it reminded me of when my Mom did the same, and when I made it with my children. With Thanksgiving coming upon us, I am remembering Thanksgivings with my brothers and sisters and parents in the big old house in Massachusetts. <br />
<br />
We were ten children, Mom & Dad, and sometimes my Grandmother, or an Aunt and her son. I don't remember times when all ten of us children were there at the same time. My memory starts more when the older boys were in the Air Force and away most of the time, and most of the younger ones at home. I don't know how my Mother did it all, taking care of so many, cooking and doing laundry for so many. But she did, and she did it with love for us children, especially. <br />
<br />
It was a very large house, with many bedrooms, a large kitchen and living room, a fireplace, and two large porches, which my Father added long after we bought the house. I loved the kitchen most of all. Dad had made a table out of a door, as we needed something very large to accommodate everyone at meals. And I remember everyone at that table, especially at holidays, with the boys teasing one another, and we girls helping Mom put the food out. I remember especially the pies! Mom made so many pies! And all kinds. Apple, of course, several, pumpkin, mince meat, apricot, berry, and of course, they didn't last long. Dad loved pie, as did all of us. I learned to make pies from my Mom, of course, but could never seem to duplicate hers. I think it was the love she put in. <br />
<br />
I remember summers there. The huge garden Dad and the boys made. The tomatoes, cukes, radishes, corn, green beans, peas, and everything else you can think of. We all had to work in the<br />
<br />
garden, but oh, the wonderful tastes that came out of it. Corn, for this family, was several dozen at<br />
one time. And you had to eat it fast, if you wanted to have more than one. I could never keep up with the boys. Corn has never tasted the same as in those days, with salt and pepper, and butter dripping off. Later, a bunch of us would pile in the old station wagon, (the kind with the wood on the sides), and we would go to get ice cream. I didn't like ice cream all that much, so I would want a hot dog! My favorite! We didn't have bikes, but we could walk anywhere in the country, so we would go to the pond, or into the woods, or sit on the log that Dad felled across the brook. Or just play on the lawn, under the big oak trees. And then, after a long Winter, in the Spring, we would make maple syrup right out in the back yard, over a big fire, from the maple trees we had. <br />
<br />
So many memories. They are wonderful to think about. But it is 3:00 a.m., and I should get some sleep. The memories have given me contentment, so I should be able to nod off soon. <br />
<br />
See you..........Later........ JO<br />
<br />
Afterthought: Finally fell asleep around four a.m., and arose at ten-thirty, and am sitting reading an old Gladys Taber favorite, (Stillmeadow Seasons), and found this sentence. <br />
<br />
"How many journeys the mind makes -- and how wonderful that it may do so!" Gladys Taber<br />

<br />
And welcome to all of my followers out there. It is so nice to see all of your blogs, and happenings too! You are so creative and fun, and lovely. I am so glad I found this blogging world, because I get to see so much that I would otherwise not have access to. Others' crocheting, cooking, decorating and nature! I love all the photos of nature that I see from different parts of the country and of the world! <br />
<br />
As I may have intimated in previous posts, I am a caregiver for my husband, and so I don't get out very far from home, or where I would see more of nature. No garden, as I just don't have the time or patience for it anymore, but I miss it terribly. It was such a wonderful way to rid myself of stress, and to get so much satisfaction from. Now, I must content myself with an occasional ride out into the country, and using crochet and blogging as my outlets. Once in awhile I talk hubby into a long ride for the day, and I enjoy it to the hilt!! <br />
<br />
Anyway, I spend a lot of my time cooking, as I still can enjoy that, and I get so many ideas from blogs, and Pinterest. Yesterday, I used a recipe from The Pioneer Woman blog. Beef stew. I haven't made stew in a long time. My Mom used to make stew a lot when I was a child, as I was one of ten, and stew went a long ways to feed that bunch! But she didn't use much for herbs and spices, so I like to try new recipes. This one was a keeper. We had my brother over to watch the football game, and he loved the stew. And the homemade biscuits, also from Ree's site. You can find her recipes on her Pinterest board, too. <br />
<br />
Check out my Pinterest boards, if you like, as I think I have some interesting things there. But very homey, as that is Me! I like the home crafts of cooking, homemaking, and making things yourself. I am an old-fashioned girl, I guess. So here is my beef stew. <br />

You would think that at 70 years young, I would have perfected my recipes, but no, I haven't. I am always finding new ways to do things. Aren't we all? That is the way of things. That is progress. That is how we grow. I love it. I love the old ways, but I like add new ways to the old ways, if that makes sense! </div>

I was reminiscing this morning. Even tho it rained overnight, it warmed up and the sun came out during the day. And my love of Fall carries through anyway. The air is really changing, as are the temperatures, and it was bringing fond memories of our life in Vermont<br />
<br />
Vermont is a special place to live. Most of it is pure country; farms, land, barns, pies, trees, cows, horses, and GREEN! It is The Green Mountain State, after all. I am an old fashioned girl, and I love the old fashioned things. We went to Pond Parties, where everyone would come , sit around the pond, with a huge bonfire going, someone strumming a guitar, with many different kinds of food, and people. It was such fun, but of course, we were much younger then. I was under forty when we lived there. What would it be like to be forty again. There was so much I could do that I cannot do now. I had so much more energy. I used to bring in wood for the wood stove, milk a cow, make butter, and buttermilk, clean out stalls in the barn, shovel snow, run errands, etc., etc. like most of you younger bloggers do now. I read your blogs and I am amazed at how much you do. Teaching crafts, homeschooling, and all the usual household chores, plus, plus, plus. I wish I had some of that energy back, but at the same time I am proud of what I do get done for my age, (70), and still find time to do things for myself. I am a caregiver for my husband, and because he is disabled all of the household chores are mine to take care of. My grandson does help when he can (he vacuumed the house, and mopped the bare floors today), but I get very tired. <br />
<br />
Getting back to life in Vermont. The nearest town for major shopping, drs., dentists, etc., was about 22 miles away, and I loved that ride every time I took it. My mother-in-law lived with us, and she usually went to town with me, and we would take in lunch, or a coffee and pie somewhere, and do our shopping etc., then head back home. She always saw something new on the ride, that she would point out to me. We saw the ski mountains, the farms, country stores, ponds, and the people. Sometimes, we would stop and say hello to a neighbor, or the school bus driver, or a farmer. It was a<br />
wonderful life. We didn't even mind the snow. We had two dogs, and I would take them up into the woods for walks while the kids were in school. My husband worked as a tool designer for a<br />
company on the border of Canada, and when he got home, he was right outside chopping wood, or working in the barn until dinner was ready. We weren't full fledged farmers, but we did what we could, and enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
And Fall in Vermont was the BEST SEASON! We would go every weekend for a picnic on the side of the road somewhere, or just for a ride to see the colors, or to visit with neighbors. It was our favorite time of the year. Wood smoke, changing colors, wild animals, such as deer, fox, coy dogs, (half dog, half coyote). I miss those days, but I am so grateful that I had them. It was the kind of life we wanted to live, and we were so fortunate and blessed to be able to do it for six years.<br />
<br />
Now I enjoy Fall here in Arizona, which is very different, but nonetheless the best season of all. <br />
<br />
Enjoy your Fall as much as you can, whether you are here in Arizona, or in the Northeast, where snow will come before you know it, or wherever you are. <br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting, and I will talk to you........Later........JOJust Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10348800111715127788noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3152141806539171647.post-28378339407916553672014-10-06T14:37:00.000-07:002014-10-06T14:37:31.852-07:00What Is It??!Hello all! <br />
<br />
Is it something in the air? The weather is changing, and so the air is changing, and I respond to it! I don't know what it is, but the air smells so fresh and feels so cool, (mornings and evenings), but there must be something else. When Fall arrives, I want to get up earlier, to enjoy the cool air, and sit out on my patio, read or crochet, listen to music, etc. but it is like there is something subliminal in the air, urging me on, putting ideas into my head. I can't seem to fit enough into the day. No other season does that to me, not even Spring. I love Fall even more here in Arizona, because we are coming off a long, hot summer, and the change is so welcome!! <br />
<br />
So can you tell I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fall???! Yesterday was Sunday, so there were corn cakes for breakfast, oatmeal raisin cookies for hubby, football all day, and at night, crocheting, and meatloaf, mashed potatoes, applesauce, and collard greens for supper. Gooooood day! <br />

<br />
Yes, Fall must be on the way, as I notice I want to cook more, clean more, and definitely want to start crocheting more. I don't do as much of any of those in the summer months, cause it is is just too darn hot! But yes, this morning I decided to make a berry pie, spaghetti and meatballs, and strawberry banana muffins. The muffins just came out of the oven, mmmmmmm!, and the pie just went in. Now I am pooped for awhile (I don't have a lot of stamina anymore), so I will write a little blog. <br />
<br />
Anyway, I will also have some iced tea and a muffin in a few minutes. In the meantime, I will look up some more recipes, do some wash, and start putting together my grandaughter's afghan, finally! I am not even sure I have enough squares for it yet, so I will lay it out, and see where I am at, since I haven't touched it in months. <br />
<br />
So, a very exciting thing happened to me on my visit to Massachusetts in August to see my daughter. It was my birthday in August, while I was there, and she had planned a surprise birthday party for me! Now, you may not believe it, but I don't remember ever having a birthday party in my life, so this was a very big thing to me! And I was surprised!! I don't know how she got it done, but she did. She had a lot of help from many of my friends, and family. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon, and I thought we were just going for a cookout at a very good friend's home. I know it was one of the best days of my life, as I love getting together with people, and I have so little time when I am there. You know how it is, you want to see everyone, but there just isn't enough time. But on this day, so many people that I love were there. About 30, I guess. Here are a couple of photos.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used two ripe bananas, small, this morning, as that is what I had. I just added a little more cream, and bis quick. But I have made them many times, and they are soft, and delicious. Actually, also, I added about a half teaspoon strawberry preserves right onto the top, and then baked. Made it all the more better!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is a look at my kitties today. They are getting big, especially Bo, the black one. I don't what it is, but he has grown twice as fast as Johnny. I enjoy them so much, even tho they are mischievous sometimes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, I had better get back to work, as I still have a few things to do before I have to start my spaghetti and meatballs. </div>

And for dessert, an Apricot pie. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, this was interesting, as I have not made one for at least twenty years, but had bought a large bag of apricots at Costco, and wanted to use them up, as I was the only one eating them. Does anyone out there remember apricot pie? Did your mother or grandmother make it years ago. It is not something you see these days. Most younger people have never had it, yet I remember my mom making it several times a year, as my father loved it. Usually, she made it at Thanksgiving. So I had to reach back into my memory and try to remember just how to make it. But I was able to remember enough, plus looking it up on the internet, and concocted my pie. I especially made it for my brother, who was saying last week that he liked it, when I mentioned it. I didn't think any of the others would have any, as I didn't think they had ever had it, and wouldn't want to try something new and unusual. But they all tried it, and I only had a little left once they were gone. It was delicious, tho I didn't think it tasted as much like mom's as I would have liked. But I never think recipes that I make that were hers, taste as I remember them. I guess that is just the way it is with daughters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, those are examples of my day to day busy life. How 'bout yours? How do you stay busy? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to hear from you. See you..............Later........JO</div>

I have been neglectful of my blog, I know! I don't know where the time goes. I know I have been cooking a lot, handling dr. visits, and dental visits, and now, going to the Vet. <br />
<br />
I finally did something I have been talking about a little, but wanting to do for a long while. My grandson and I went to the Humane Society and got not one, but TWO kitties. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

o the black. They were 14 weeks and 11 weeks, respectively, when we got them. We went out to the tire store to get two new tires put on Noah's car, and came home 6 hours later with two kitties. My hubby knew we wanted to get them sometime, as we had been talking about it, but he didn't know we were coming home with them that day! They weren't from the same litter, and had not been together before, but they got along like a house afire immediately when we got them home. They are now best cat buddies. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
describe the joy they have brought into this house. I wish we hadn't waited so long to get them. But we have them now, and are so glad of it. They are lively and active, wrestling, chasing, sleeping on one another, finding their own little nooks to sleep in, or sleeping together, climbing on my bed to nap with me, and get their lovins! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiayOGbiDjZ9LUVSd8X8gyKIaWn0jNSr663w1XjR3KpPdBHoHZctA938nHxJq_n7A35cU1up0MUoMjd48GTD1lJDgwLDn3XtZwrygZfvtvDeSSJE0HPhgExmNyrsKl1PLje-v3_GryUUFSF/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiayOGbiDjZ9LUVSd8X8gyKIaWn0jNSr663w1XjR3KpPdBHoHZctA938nHxJq_n7A35cU1up0MUoMjd48GTD1lJDgwLDn3XtZwrygZfvtvDeSSJE0HPhgExmNyrsKl1PLje-v3_GryUUFSF/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>And they </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
are loved!! Hubby was very reluctant to get kitties now, but we won out, and he is warming to them quickly. They are different, Johnny being a bit wild, very energetic, yet lovable too when he wants to be. Bo is quieter, very lovable, calmer, and not so energetic, but we love their personalities just as they are. We have definitely bonded with them, and them with us, so they are ours forever! So you will be hearing kitty stories, and seeing pics of kitties often, I think! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As far as other goings on, things have been quiet around here. Very little crocheting, as I don't do as much in the summer months. I have yet to put together grandaughter's purple afghan, (shame on me!), and I keep telling myself to get it done, but have procrastinated to the point of ridiculous!!! And I have not kept up with my blogging friends posts as well as I should, so I must get going. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have made plans to visit our daughter for a week or so in August, about which I am very excited. We are making lists of things to do while I am there, places to go, etc., and I know she is elated, too! Hubby is not as happy as he has to stay home, ( traveling is getting too difficult for him) , and he doesn't like me leaving him. But he will be ok, as Noah will be here with him, and he has the kitties to keep him company. And I plan everything out for him while I am gone to make sure everything goes smoothly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that's what is going on at my place. What have you all been up to? I hope you are enjoying your summer, and thanks for visiting me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe I will have a certain purple blanket to show you next time, so see you........</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Later.........JO</div>

<br />
What a month or so we have had! Surgery for a brother-in-law, a bad fall for my brother, gout for me, and carpal tunnel surgery and dentistry for my hubby, E. Now recoveries for all, thank goodness. But also, happy things, of course. Gorgeous flowers abound, the weather has been beautiful, patio loafing for me, a niece visiting, and our 51st anniversary.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My hubby loves all things farm, so we went for a ride and found a neighbor's yard, with a few farm items used as decorations. </div>

He loved that time of our life, as did I. We love to talk about those times, the animals, gardens, haying, neighbors, etc. We still have contact with some of them. The neighbors, that is. That was such a simple life, having a pot luck dinner with friends and neighbors, ice skating, sliding with the kids, walking the dogs in the fields, milking a cow, and making butter, and homemade ice cream, helping to hay, birthing a calf, chickens, and a million more things. Oh, I miss it even more when I talk about it. And I know he misses it even more. </div>

I don't have much of a green thumb for flowers, anyway, I so admire yards with lovely plantings and pretty flowers. If I could have raised beds, I would love to have some flowers and vegetables, but that is not possible right now, so I really enjoy seeing what others do with their yards. </div>

<br />
The weather here has been absolutely deelightful!! I've just had my guys come and completely clean, and trim the yard, so everything looks so nice. The orange and grapefruit trees got trimmed back a bit also, and now I can see when a coyote wanders into my yard. Haha. I haven't gotten any plants for the yard yet, and I guess that will have to wait til after Easter. <br />

finished project I have to show is the little bunch of rabbits, and the Easter eggs I made for my daughter's holiday tree. They are getting there kind of late, but I know she won't mind. She knows how hectic life is for this old woman! I know she will love them. Then I will have to get busy on the next ornaments. Any suggestions on what I can make for the summer months? I will make red, white and blue stars for Memorial Day, and for Labor Day, but I don't know what to make for in between. Help?? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, I hope you all have been enjoying the gorgeous weather in your area, except for those of you who have gotten more snow, but fear not, nice weather is coming! For us, it is starting to get warmer by the day, and we have already had temps in the 90's. Dread the hot summer, but it is not too great a price to pay in exchange for the wonderful weather, of Spring, Fall, and Winter!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I hope you all have a wonderful Spring, I hope you get outside as much as possible, smell the flowers, fresh mowed grass, trees, and hear the birds singing to you! </div>

<br />
<br />
I've been absent from my blog for awhile. Dentists, doctors, etc., have kept us busy for the last month or so. And we still have some ahead of us, mainly carpal tunnel surgery for both hands for my hubby. Poor guy has so much pain in his hands, and I have to help him a lot because of it. But, hopefully, the surgeries will help alleviate the pain, and allow him a little better use of his hands. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwt7gpe-el5clX7KEKvfqk1HciOh7ugOfCahjWmS1Lxn6rl7JXnQMWqwXzPcgDUHevh2dr7KUj8NYTOPIArNZ2hPpO9TxzwpyuXYzCsBUbHBjEYWuKlROFUYRflleZ215AUN_uY2A0e8Br/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwt7gpe-el5clX7KEKvfqk1HciOh7ugOfCahjWmS1Lxn6rl7JXnQMWqwXzPcgDUHevh2dr7KUj8NYTOPIArNZ2hPpO9TxzwpyuXYzCsBUbHBjEYWuKlROFUYRflleZ215AUN_uY2A0e8Br/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>But, we haven't been without interesting things in our lives. We've been out and about, taking day trips to local areas, seeing things we haven't seen before, picking fruit and making orange and grapefruit juice, cooking, crocheting (me!), and visiting with friends. Below is a photo of us with some special friends, who are traveling the country in their Airstream. They were here in Arizona, and we didn't want to miss the chance to visit with them. They've gone on to California, and will continue around the country. Lucky folks! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnacNDuxXYkaT20xdPfBQwhAXAPjlddtI1s8cUYl9bkD595PYwK4N7FL8on0Zeu4_a7SDG7mUJN8ke_fSbEewqoYaXUV0bGv85XJLM2GMQt7Ab6PwPxgQMHqeXDWE3u9qjcNhUMa4ba_Ds/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnacNDuxXYkaT20xdPfBQwhAXAPjlddtI1s8cUYl9bkD595PYwK4N7FL8on0Zeu4_a7SDG7mUJN8ke_fSbEewqoYaXUV0bGv85XJLM2GMQt7Ab6PwPxgQMHqeXDWE3u9qjcNhUMa4ba_Ds/s1600/image.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a>Plus, we have been picking the fruit from our yard, which we have in abundance, as we have three orange trees and a grapefruit tree. I looooove being able to just walk out in the yard, and pick a grapefruit or orange for my breakfast. I love making fresh fruit salads, and they are even better when you can add something from your own yard. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgzr1eVpE8Imh3-GFrcr_gz8CW0X6lHftb2wpRj0pelr5fClwX0bIdrB-hy0_a5VcsTvNubZWVaoCeB6eCj1rAhIS5jC-V78-VBh93b1-8lrR_9L54EBi5sL8YuZFpjRXrhkFDJjWT1y8O/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgzr1eVpE8Imh3-GFrcr_gz8CW0X6lHftb2wpRj0pelr5fClwX0bIdrB-hy0_a5VcsTvNubZWVaoCeB6eCj1rAhIS5jC-V78-VBh93b1-8lrR_9L54EBi5sL8YuZFpjRXrhkFDJjWT1y8O/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>When I went out this morning, I noticed that the flowers on the grapefruit tree had produced these tiny little grapefruits that I had never noticed before. I guess I had just never really looked; I would just go out and pick one and go back inside. Now, I know that the process works as such; first, the beautiful aromatic flowering buds, then the fruit, but I had never seen them in this developmental stage. They were no bigger than my little fingernail! I was amazed, and ashamed of myself that I had never taken the time to notice them before. Aren't they amazing?? I mean, I am always the one saying "Stop and smell the roses", but I hadn't been doing it. So I shall try to pay more attention to these things. Ain't life grand?!! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1yfnam-LQuAelK5hX4jUHKA7JgcuF4BGDzsK2xppH1GazibTqjPWmG9_7TPSQLPupa_p7LDwmYlxr9tlyFHTdk6EplFL_GlsxIqzyeuihMbVVeqIOR3YyZYvctLzXhAoRRtwm5ZcwyMjW/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1yfnam-LQuAelK5hX4jUHKA7JgcuF4BGDzsK2xppH1GazibTqjPWmG9_7TPSQLPupa_p7LDwmYlxr9tlyFHTdk6EplFL_GlsxIqzyeuihMbVVeqIOR3YyZYvctLzXhAoRRtwm5ZcwyMjW/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>So, since I went out there for a couple of grapefruit, I cut them up and added them to my wonderful fresh fruit salad. I love it for breakfast with a dollop of Greek yogurt, and a sprinkling of raw sugar, and a tablespoon of granola! Mmmmmm, perfection. And healthy! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Also, working on organizing so that life is more tranquil, and peaceful, because I know that clutter just makes life seem chaotic! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXQao02wVkzL9cBrbYw8PgcskrMY4NW_27jS0IEXQIUzI9a3PyDWgIQoZ0cHwpVndiHJBnr8vC7Co5hdo91zmzw7hEfIDWwqivvRLERCo9sClxeZ7CwNNW5Ra9SJX5ZmiQHGMB_BgexRtG/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXQao02wVkzL9cBrbYw8PgcskrMY4NW_27jS0IEXQIUzI9a3PyDWgIQoZ0cHwpVndiHJBnr8vC7Co5hdo91zmzw7hEfIDWwqivvRLERCo9sClxeZ7CwNNW5Ra9SJX5ZmiQHGMB_BgexRtG/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>And lastly, I am still working on my eldest grandaughter's purple afghan. I did all the easy squares, and am now working on the bobble patterned squares. I've discovered that I do not like the bobble stitch in a project of this size. I have to make 12 squares of each color; purple, lavender, and sparkly white. And it is too slow for me, (I like to see more progress), and too tedious. I may try to alter the pattern of squares, so that I don't use as many bobble squares as the simple ones. Is that wicked of me? I don't like to have to spend this much time on one project. I want to see results much more quickly! I guess that is just so that I can get on with another project. I have so many projects I would like to try, and so little time! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I shouldn't complain, as I am very fortunate that the good Lord has given me this time to do what I love. Retirement has afforded me that time, which I didn't have when I was working, so I am blessed and thankful. And I have had so much inspiration from other bloggers, and from Pinterest. I have found so many things to do that I love. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe next time I post something, I will have some photos of some finished projects, so I can show you my progress. I will work diligently each day. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I will talk to you again.........Later.........JO</div>

<br />
<br />
So.....I was driving down my street two days ago, I saw a nice lady, probably about 80, taking a casserole across the street to her neighbor. It made me pause to think. You don't see that as much anymore, do you? Or am I wrong? Let's say, I don't hear of it very often anymore. I do it occasionally, so it made me think - "I am going home and make something good for my brother and brother-in-law and take it over to them". <br />
<br />
So, I came home after going to the grocery store, and treating myself to some Very Pretty Flowers, and made some homemade chicken noodle soup, and oatmeal raisin cookies.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmf5mqKB1UxUoCxBuCN65p9kAM7GVeAPLfReGN2sGWNWtIdYF-NUzt56dKEzR9syN0G0AZNH8CHhiWKZ4f5DJxKEsECfCXQQ8NBtVyjkw4_e4rszTGYFL0-e-vgEkxca_yuzSfXWeQKBdU/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmf5mqKB1UxUoCxBuCN65p9kAM7GVeAPLfReGN2sGWNWtIdYF-NUzt56dKEzR9syN0G0AZNH8CHhiWKZ4f5DJxKEsECfCXQQ8NBtVyjkw4_e4rszTGYFL0-e-vgEkxca_yuzSfXWeQKBdU/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The soup came out good, tho I had to add bullion, which I don't like to do (too much salt), but it does add flavor, and made it just right. The cookies came out too fat the first batch, then better, after I added just a little flour. So I hope they like my offerings. I have try to do this more often, because I like the little things one can do for another. So be kind, and do something nice for a neighbor, relative or friend, or even for a stranger! <br />

Well, so that's what I have been up to for the past few days, and, oh, by the way, I lost four and a half pounds in the last two weeks, after gaining two, so I am back on track! And I am working on my closet! Photos to come when it is finished!! That may take awhile, because this is quite a job. I have neglected it for a long time, and it's getting back at me! Anyway, that is for another time. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Have a good week ahead, and be kind. Until, Later.........JO<br />
<br />
P.S. Sorry about the photos. The light was not right in the kitchen, and I am not the greatest at taking photos, anyway. But you get the picture. Haha. </div>

<div>
Life has been slow lately, as far as my crochet life , that is. I did mail out the hearts for T., my daughter, for her year - round tree, and I have just finished the three leaf and four leaf clovers, so they will be sent out today. These were also made using the pattern from Sarah, at Sarahndipities. Thanks, Sarah! <span id="goog_720506246"></span><br />

I wasn't sure about the cream color ones, but that was what she wanted, for some contrast. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am working on my older grandaughter's afghan now, so that is taking up most of my time. She loved the pillow, so I feel confident she will love the afghan. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As far as kitties are concerned, we tried to find some, but it is not "kitty season", we were told when we called the humane society. So we will wait awhile and look in a month or two. We were disappointed, as for me, because when I decide to do something, I want to do it NOW. I guess this will teach me patience, which you would think I would have learned by age 69. But no. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, that's about all I am up to right now. Still working on the weight loss, and organization skills, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and will update on those another time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I will talk to you all .............. Later..........JO</div>

<br />
I've been working on several projects, and finished the little hearts for my daughter's tree, which she decided to keep up year round so that it brightens up her apartment. So I will be busy making the appropriate crocheted decorations for it for each season/holiday. So the hearts went out to her; two of each, white, light pink, rose pink, bright pink, and four red. That should do it for Valentine's day and a little while after, then I will make her shamrocks! I made the hearts from Sarahndipities site, crochet heart garland, except I made them singly, with a loop to hang them on the tree. <br />
<br />
In case I haven't mentioned it before, my daughter lives alone, and hasn't had a Christmas tree for several years, so this year I forced one on her, and she is tickled with it. It's only a three foot lighted tree, so it doesn't take up much room in her tiny apartment. So it is this that we are decorating for her. <br />
<br />
Anyway, aside from my obsession with all that is crochet (or knit), I have been thinking for awhile that I miss having a cat, so we are going to get a kitty, or maybe two. I have had several cats over the years, and I enjoy the company of an animal. When we lived on the farm, we had one cat, and two dogs. The dogs were given to us, as we had 117 acres in Vermont, so they said "oh, the farm is the perfect place for our dog, as we don't have enough room for him, or her". "Please, please", they said, so we took them. One was Boots, a black and white Springer Spaniel, and other was Georgie Girl, an Airedale. We had to give them to another farmer when we left Vermont, and I don't want the work of a dog now, so it will be a cat! <br />
<br />
I'm excited! So is our grandson, as he always loved having a cat. The last one we got was when he was very small, and he is 22 now. When he lived with his dad for a couple of years, they had THREE. kittens! I am not even sure about having two! What do you think? This process is going to take some time, I imagine, as we have to find them first. Maybe if we get two, one will be a little older, and we can adopt one from the humane society or SPCA. So many older animals don't get adopted, cause everyone wants a kitten. So we'll see. <br />
<br />
So maybe I will have some photos in a week or two, so I will see you .....Later.......JO<br />

Yes, yesterday was a good day! I finished all my post-Christmas projects, and they are ready to send out! <br />
Usually, I don't get a full day to myself too often. But hubby was really tired and spent most of the day in bed, so I curled up on my little red love seat and finished off all my projects. I didn't have too much left to do, just small jobs. Buttons, on the pillow, a pot holder, cowls, etc.<br />

is for my granddaughter, and will be followed up with a blanket to match. I hope she likes it. I loved making the seed stitch cowl, for my good friend Gayla. A few other cowls, for various friends, a potholder, and I made a couple of washcloths. Feels so good to get them done! Now, wrap them up and send them out! </div>

am here, I must show you the gift I received from my niece, Annie. I saw it on Pinterest, and casually mentioned it to her before Christmas, and presto! She had an old box grater that she didn't use, painted it, added some wire design on the top, with beads, etc., and presented it to me! I absolutely LOVE it. I can hang several pairs of earrings on it, and even a couple of necklaces and bracelets. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
this wonderful turkey pasta soup from some leftover turkey from the freezer, frozen vegetables, onions, celery, and broth. Thyme , garlic, and pepper, and I had a nice easy supper, which everyone loved. I only have one bowl left! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
completely a day to myself, (there are always interruptions), but it was a GOOOOOOD day anyway. A nice, warm, cozy day! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, until I get another of those days, I will chug along on new projects, new recipes, and it'll still be fun! I am so glad I got back to my knitting and crocheting! There is such a satisfaction to making lovely, colorful cowls, blankets, pillows, washcloths, or whatever to give to someone you love! I don't know why I didn't get back to it sooner. I guess life got in the way, as it sometimes overwhelms , and there doesn't seem time for anything else. But somehow, I have found a way to meld some pleasures into the everyday complications of life! Thank you, Lord, for leading me to these better days! I'll be back.........Later......JO</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLWuQ7BJqcs6qV4kBTuQd0RF7DC1ajv5WO0SNDqDOGxeAaUatMot38WNs2zCOM2yWsu1bMfY90-YoH3KNJmnBaome9C_aLUB2Jh0cEogi916EADJBc0fb4KVCYm4IGCSzV9el_a0-i35k-/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLWuQ7BJqcs6qV4kBTuQd0RF7DC1ajv5WO0SNDqDOGxeAaUatMot38WNs2zCOM2yWsu1bMfY90-YoH3KNJmnBaome9C_aLUB2Jh0cEogi916EADJBc0fb4KVCYm4IGCSzV9el_a0-i35k-/s1600/image.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a>I love soups! Especially in the winter! I think most everybody does, don't you? Started these yesterday, using a ham bone that we had a couple of weeks ago. I always freeze the bone, with some meat left on it, until I am ready to use it. I also freeze the gravy I make from the ham, so that I can add that to my soup when I am ready. I use pineapple slices and a mustard/brown sugar glaze on the ham when I cook it for dinner, so the gravy has a sweet taste. We all like it that way. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yesterday, I simmered the bone in water and chicken broth, along with 3 carrots, 2 celery stalks, two onions, and a whole garlic bulb, unpeeled. I simmer that for two to three hours, drain, and use the broth, discard the vegetables. This time, I made a lot of broth, because I wanted to make pea soup, and bean soup. For the bean soup, I use the 15 bean dry mix, minus the flavor packet. Don't like that! It'll have plenty of flavor in it, believe me! Naturally, I have soaked the beans, as per the bag instructions, so split the broth into two pans, added the beans to one, and the split peas to the other, and let them simmer for awhile til they are tender. While the broth was simmering, I cut up about five carrots, smallish pieces, three small onions, and six stalks of celery, and cut up all the meat from the bone, or leftover ham. I add these along with the beans, or peas, and let the whole lot simmer until the beans are tender. I had also added two bay leaves to the bean soup. I hope this isn't confusing. I'll write the recipe out below. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These will be our supper tonite, along with, for the guys, blt sandwiches. For me, it'll be a rice cake with a little peanut butter on it. We went out for lunch today, watched football, and this soup supper will be a perfect ending for the day! The guys love soup, too! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, the recipe. I know this is very much like most bean soup recipes, but I love the added sweetness from the pineapple, and brown sugar that I used when baking the ham,initially. The flavor is just fabulous!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the broth, one ham bone</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
8 cups water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 cans low sodium chicken broth</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 whole garlic bulb, unpeeled, slice off bottom of bulb</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 med. onions, ends cut off, but unpeeled</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 or 3 carrots</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 or 3 stalks celery</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the bean soup</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2/3 of the broth </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 or 3 carrots, chopped </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 large onion, chopped </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 or 3 stalks celery, chopped </div>

Okay! I know this is kind of long, but I really want you to try these soups. The bean soup, especially, cause it is the most delicious bean soup I have ever had! I don't claim to be any super cook, or anything, I just get excited when I cook something that is sooooo good, I want to share it. Let me know, if you try it, or if I missed something in the recipe! I hope you try it! </div>

Now, that's a bowl of fruit! Apples, grapes, kiwi, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, orange and grapefruit! I'm in that CANDO thing with Astri, so I am trying to eat healthier, so I can start feeling healthier! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is my new favorite tea at the moment, (since Christmas), but YIKES, I don't have any yogurt. So I had to make do with the fruit and granola. Trip to the grocery store is in my immediate future. </div>

I am proud to say that the oranges and PINK grapefruit, ( the only kind to eat, in my opinion), come from my yard. I have an abundance of oranges and grapefruit, so I use them all I can. I will be making lots of orange juice, to which I add a little grapefruit juice, for more flavor, and then I freeze it for future use. Takes up a lot of room in my freezer, but soooooo worth it! We all drink orange juice, so it saves me $$$$ too. </div>

My hairdresser is going to bring her two boys over, and they will pick enough for her to take home, as she juices too, and enough for me to make several gallons of juice, to start. That saves me picking, and let's them climb trees! Double treat! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I am going to be a busy girl this week. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
By the way, I have lost 4 pounds total so far, and that makes me happy! I am cooking smarter and better, and so, eating smarter and better, and I don't mind. I splurge a little here and there, so it doesn't come off super fast, but that's okay. Just so long as I am losing, and eating better, I am happy! </div>
<br />
I am also working on getting better organized, but that is going slower, I am afraid, but I WILL do it. <br />

Yes, I think I am settling in for this new year of 2014! I have sent out several more packages to places and people far away, so that my work might make someone else smile. I hated to part with my blanket, the one I made for my granddaughter, Elizabeth.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiyDxF0iIhZajeH2jNgrocSSnQSYfOWFTzo2rdwl0m4w4zr2N56spJvvVVItWooVec4gCjb6vmaMC9ywIJr9UBZEK5NSMN3JUMQSWUr4XFiIUdyvfAs4_ZVqgwy7J4WfhNFBzYAmOSHrk_/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiyDxF0iIhZajeH2jNgrocSSnQSYfOWFTzo2rdwl0m4w4zr2N56spJvvVVItWooVec4gCjb6vmaMC9ywIJr9UBZEK5NSMN3JUMQSWUr4XFiIUdyvfAs4_ZVqgwy7J4WfhNFBzYAmOSHrk_/s320/image.jpg" width="239" /></a>Here it is, again. I just love the colors, and I know she will, too, cause she picked them out. I am so excited for when the package arrives, and she sees it for the very first time. I haven't made her anything for a very long time, and I know she will love it and cherish it for many years. She wanted it to fit a double bed, so it took me foreeevvvver to make it, but it was worth it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also have sent out cowls, garlands, washcloths, and pot holders, and I am sure they will delight the friends and family who receive them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is a little after seven a.m., and I am sitting in my favorite chair, (which you also see in the photo), enjoying a cup of mint tea with honey, my new favorite way to have tea. I have been working on my CANDO experience, and doing fairly well with that, so far. Weigh in is today, so I will see what the official loss is. Also, have joined in the 52 Project, where I am working on one goal per week. This week is to get caught up with the ironing, and sort out what goes and what stays in my closet, and my hubby's closet. Working on that! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Like so many others, I want to declutter and become more organized this year. I'm 69, you would think I would have mastered this by now, but no, old habits are hard to break! At least that is my excuse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lots to do this a.m., so.......Later.....JO</div>

No, I am not done. I left my tree up because we had company coming and it was more cozy and festive. And now it is still up, cause it's more cozy and festive....... For me. I just love the Christmas tree. It brings on so many memories... Of my kids when they were little, my grandkids when they were little, our first Christmases together as a couple, Christmases with our parents, with friends, and extended family. Wonderful memories. So I am not in a hurry to take it down and put it away. <br />
<br />
Also, I am still making Christmas gifts. Well, post-Christmas gifts. New year's gifts, if you will. And Christmas gifts for next Christmas. Things that I can have put away, and pick out for special people. It'll be like going thru my own little special shop next Dec. 1st, and finding something that says "Oh, that'll be perfect for Mary, or Annie, or Mo.". My goal is to finish at least one gift per month. <br />
<br />
My other goal this year is to get healthier (lose weight), but more importantly, get healthier. So I have joined Astri of Apple Blossom Dreams in her CANDO project. She will chart my weight loss for me, and we will all give one another encouragement. I need to get healthier, and I know if I eat healthier, I will feel much better. <br />
<br />
So that is me for the New Year. Enjoy our tree a little longer, get my gift giving more organized, and get healthier. Also, I want to enjoy those around me, help where I can, share the joys of life, and be thankful to God for everything and everyone in my life. Hope you all have a happy, joy-filled year. Welcome to all of you followers. I hope I give you something to think about each time I post. See you all.......Later........JOJust Johttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10348800111715127788noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3152141806539171647.post-32913199368374280502014-01-02T08:37:00.000-08:002014-01-02T08:37:02.043-08:00Finished a Year and a Project! Hello All... <br />
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Blessings and good wishes to all of you for a healthy, happy, new year! <br />
<br />
I have finished up my year with many small projects and one big project. Finally, after two months, I have finished my grandaughter's blanket. She wanted it to fit her full sized bed, so it took longer than I anticipated. This is not my pattern, nor are my colors original, as she saw it on my Pinterest board, and said this is what I want! I changed the colors a little bit, and I changed the edging a bit, but I love how it came out. The colors are delicious, if I do say so myself! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I think this is the loveliest blanket I have ever made, and I am glad my granddaughter picked it out, so I know she will like it! <br />

It has been such a joy to make. Thanks to my mother for having taught me many years ago to crochet, despite myself and my impatience at the time. As you can see, I am still not finished with the blanket for my granddaughter. It is just the tangled mess that is left. That is, the threads to sew in, and cut off, making it nice and clean. It is beautiful, if I do say so myself. Not my pattern, or my color choice, by the way. I found it on Pinterest and there was no pattern, but it looked pretty easy to follow. I made some slight changes to what it looked like, but I am pleased with how it is turning out. </div>

But it was pretty. I made some star and snowflake garlands, and some tree garlands that I gave as gifts, plus several cowls and a snowflake garland, too! What fun I have had. Now I can start for next year! </div>

This has all been a God-send for me, as life has it's difficult times, and we all need something to help us get thru them. This has all been relaxing, comforting and cozy for me. Thank you to all who have given me inspiration and support. I hope that I have been able to give a little inspiration to others, as well. </div>
